The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) has served the citizens of South Carolina since 1824. MUSC has expanded from a small private college for the training of physicians to a state university with a medical center and six colleges for the education of a broad range of health professionals, biomedical scientists, and other health-related personnel.
Health Sciences South Carolina (HSSC) is a public-private partnership of the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, the Medical University of South Carolina, Palmetto Health, and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Formed in 2004, HSSC works to advance health-science education and research, and is already affecting change and achieving results necessary to transform the state's economy and health status.
