SmartBrain Home

SmartBRAIN® will promote brain health while preventing cognitive decline and brain diseases, including Alzheimer's and stroke.  Prevention, rehabilitation, and research will promote and maintain brains that remain healthy throughout the lifespan.  SmartBRAIN® brings together experts in the field of nutrition, exercise, geriatrics, neuropsychology, and neurology to provide assessments of nutrition, exercise, medications, and health status, focusing on the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases. The center also provides older people with access to experts in the field and to trials of new research studies designed to enhance brain function. A partnership with the Brain Imaging Center of Economic Excellence, including its McCausland Center for Brain Imaging (http://www.mccauslandcenter.sc.edu/index.html), will facilitate research and provide state of the art technology.  The McCausland Center has a high-resolution Siemens 3 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging system.
